404 BCE The Athenians are Finally Defeated
The Peloponnesian War comes to an end leaving Athens powerless and unable to be the strong presence that they once were. This weakness becomes a large target for outside nations to come and attack this nation due to the disfunction within the country. When looking at this battle, it did more harm then good. If the country was united, it would have been a powerhouse that would over power any country that tried to attack it. Again, since Athens was so weak democracy was not the strongest. There was a lot of power disputs leading to there not being one strong ruler.
359 BCE New Power

In 431 BCE Sparta Attacks Athens
The first of the civil battles was in 431 BCE. It was between Sparta and Athens. The Spartas could not attack the city due to the wall but the country side of Athens took the largest blow. On top of the battle, a plague was started wiping out about 25% of the population including Pericles. This lead to the weakning of Athens
